What an incredible 4 days over in Spain at the Barcelona Trophy with our 4 teams.
All started on Thursday with the stadium tour of the iconic Camp Nou followed by two superb days of football.
Unfortunately none of our teams reached the finals that were played yesterday but that never really was the priority.
The 10s, 11s and 12s had the experience of playing their games at the very impressive Salou Football Centre which was just absolutely buzzing and such an incredible place to be (apart from the wind!!). The standard of the Spanish teams we played was really good but all of our teams did us proud and produced some great performances in the wins we had. The experience of playing against other styles and cultures will prove invaluable for our boys moving forward and considering we were virtually playing a year up in all 3 age groups I’m proud of how we did. The 15s with 3 under 14s in the squad were in the under 16s competition and played away from the main venue at various different places. I think the lads and parents enjoyed the coach trips as much as the games!! A win and a draw on the first day set them up for group decider on the Saturday v a team called Castelldefels. The lads gave it their all but our opponents were superb. Their movement, pace and technical ability was simply superb and it was no surprise to learn yesterday that they had gone on to win the tournament. So on the pitch as always our lads did us proud and off it a great time was had by all players, parents and my coaching team. Memories and experiences for our players to remember and cherish for a long time. This was our first ever tour and it was a huge success thanks to the tireless work of James and his team at FTI Tours. We are already planning our next one!!
